Casual Essentials Introduces the "Shōul"

Fashion-Forward "Necessary Accessory" Wrap Stays on the Shōulders
New York, NY - July 31, 2007 - For women everywhere, wildly fluctuating temperatures-be they seasonal (winter, spring, summer, fall), artificially induced (on an airplane, in the movies, at the office) or hormonal (no description needed)-make dressing appropriately and stylishly one of life's major dilemmas, day after day, night after night. Now, from Casual Essentials comes the ultimate solution.

Casual Essentials LLC introduces the "Shōul," which is a play on the words Shōulder and shawl and is pronounced Shōle. Lightweight yet warm, the wrap refuses to fall off the Shōulders, adds an elegant touch to any outfit and fits any shape or size. Made of a washable, soft acrylic knit and available in black or tan, the Shōul offers a flattering, versatile design that works day-to-night for casual and dressy attire. As a travel accessory-and especially on buses, trains and airplanes-the Shōul folds to a compact, easy-to-carry size and even comes with its own handy clip.

Simply put, the Shōul is a "necessary accessory." For pregnant women, it's a classy alternative to sweaters that no longer fit. Gym rats and yoga enthusiasts will want to tuck it in their tote bags for those warm-up and cool-down periods. And if you don't know what to get your coworkers, mother, grandmothers, teenaged daughter or other women in your life, the Shōul fills the bill with flexibility, neutral tones and one-size-fits-all practicality. Priced at just $39 plus $4.95 shipping and handling, the Shōul makes an ideal "under $50" gift and is available at www.theshoul.com.

Founded in 2006 by Jo Anne Patterson and Susie Lewis, Casual Essentials was established to showcase the Shōul and is focused on producing fashionable yet functional accessories for women. The duo developed the Shōul, dubbed "The Smart Shōul-der Wrap," after Patterson had worn out a beloved old shawl. "I missed wearing my old shawl because it was something that I didn't have to fuss with," says Patterson, a pharmaceutical marketing consultant. "Pashmina shawls are stacked in my dresser drawer, but they're just too bulky and are always falling off." Sweaters, Patterson found, were either too casual or wrinkled the sleeves of her outfits. "The Shōul sits on top of anything you're wearing," she emphasizes. "And that is exactly what I loved most about that worn-out shawl."

For two years Patterson searched in vain for the perfect replacement shawl in the shops in Southern California and online. Finally she decided to create the solution to her problem and design her own. The result is soft, like cashmere, with a slenderizing, lightly ribbed panel in vertical lines around the lower edge. The Shōul, which Patterson likens to a compact umbrella because it combines practicality, function and fashion, is a must-have that fits right into your purse.

Both Patterson and Lewis agree that developing the product has been really fun. Lewis says, "Having the Shōul in tow has become, for me and the variety of women who've tried it, an absolutely necessary accessory!"
